Babar Azam becomes joint fastest to score 6,000 ODI runs

Karachi: Pakistan’s star batter, Babar Azam, carved his name into cricket history on Friday during the tri-series final against New Zealand at the National Bank Stadium.

Needing just 10 runs to reach the 6,000-run milestone in One Day Internationals (ODIs), Babar comfortably achieved the feat, further cementing his legacy.

At 30, he becomes the latest Pakistani cricketer to join the elite 6,000 ODI runs club. His career statistics reflect remarkable consistency, boasting 34 half-centuries and 19 centuries.

Babar is now the 11th Pakistani batter to surpass 6,000 ODI runs, joining an esteemed list led by Inzamam-ul-Haq (11,701 runs), followed by Mohammad Yousuf (9,554) and Saeed Anwar (8,824).

Adding to his achievements, the right-handed batter equaled South African legend Hashim Amla’s record for the fastest to 6,000 ODI runs, reaching the milestone in just 123 innings.
