Duckett smashes record-breaking century against Australia in Champions Trophy
England’s opener Ben Duckett rewrote history with a stunning century in their Champions Trophy 2025 clash against Australia on Saturday, breaking a long-standing record.
The left-hander surpassed Nathan Astle’s 21-year-old record for the highest individual score in Champions Trophy history. Duckett’s remarkable knock of 165 off 142 balls eclipsed Astle’s unbeaten 145 against the USA in 2004.
With this innings, Duckett also became the first batter to register a 150-plus score in the tournament’s history. Before being dismissed by Marnus Labuschagne in the 48th over, he hammered 17 fours and three sixes, propelling England to a formidable total in their opening game.

After being sent in to bat first, England faced early pressure with a couple of wickets falling in the powerplay. Duckett then built a crucial 158-run partnership with Joe Root, who also notched a half-century.
Thanks to their efforts, England posted a strong total of 351/8 in their Champions Trophy 2025 encounter against Australia.
Notably, the two teams have met five times in previous Champions Trophy editions, with England holding the advantage, winning three games compared to Australia’s two victories.
