Expected Dates and Venues For WorldCup 2023

The possible dates and venues for the 2023 ODI World Cup in India have been shortlisted.

According to a Cricinfo report, the ICC ODI World Cup hosted by India is likely to start from October 5, while the final of the event will be played on November 19. The report claims that the venues shortlisted by the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) include Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamshala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot, Mumbai and Ahmedabad included.

In the tournament, 48 matches will be played over 46 days while the final will be played at the world’s largest Narendra Modi Stadium.

The ICC World Cup schedule is announced a year in advance, but the Indian cricket board is still waiting for government approval, with two major issues being getting tax exemptions for the tournament and visa clearance for the Pakistan cricket team.

According to ICC rules, the host country of any event has to get tax exemption from the government, but Indian tax laws do not allow such tax exemption as required by ICC, if the BCCI fails to get the tax exemption, the ICC could lose $116 million in tax at 21.84% on broadcast revenue, which would be borne by the BCCI and all other member nations.

It may be noted that the BCCI had signed a hosting agreement with the ICC in 2014.

On the other hand, the Indian board has not yet submitted the letter regarding the guaranteed issuance of visas for all the member countries’ teams, officials, media and fans for the event, which was assured in the previous meetings.
