Foreign players to receive additional $100,000 from PCB for PSL 2025
The PCB will provide an additional $100,000 to each of these high-profile players
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will offer a significant financial incentive to six prominent foreign players ahead of the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 edition.
According to media reports, the PCB will likely pay an additional $100,000 to each of these high-profile players for committing to the tournament.
An official confirmed to international media outlets that the fund would be used to cover salaries for overseas players who have signed contracts for PSL 2025.
“David Warner, for example, has come onboard for a fee of $300,000, with $100,000 of that being paid by the PCB from the special fund,” PTI quoted a PSL official as saying.
In a move aimed at further enhancing the tournament’s appeal, the maximum base salary for foreign players in the PSL draft, which was initially set at $200,000, will now be increased for this year’s edition.
Previously, the highest-paid players in the PSL were Kieron Pollard ($250,000) and AB de Villiers ($230,000).
A few years ago, the PSL governing council agreed that when the central pool’s net broadcast revenue reaches Rs. 3 billion, an annual allocation of $500,000 would be reserved for elite players’ salaries.
The unused amount from last year has now contributed to an increase in the fund to $1 million.
“The PCB will use this fund to assist in paying some of the elite players who signed on during the player draft,” the official explained.
Among the overseas players who have joined the PSL this year are those who went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, including David Warner, Daryl Mitchell, Kane Williamson, Finn Allen, Matthew Short, Sean Abbott, Nahid Rana, Liton Das, Michael Bracewell, Rassie van der Dussen and Corbin Bosch, among others.
This season will mark the first time that the PSL is being held in the same window as the IPL, with both leagues clashing during their latter stages.
PSL 10 is set to take place in the April-May window and will overlap with the Indian Premier League this year.
