Head Coach Aqib Javed Analyzes Pakistan’s Approach for Tri-Nation Series and Champions Trophy
Aqib Javed emphasized the need for Pakistan to score over 300 runs in home conditions
Pakistan’s head coach, Aqib Javed, addressed the media to discuss the team’s approach ahead of the Tri-Nation Series and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Javed emphasized that the team is focused on building a solid foundation for future success, starting with the upcoming series.
During the press conference, he highlighted the importance of posting 300-plus totals in home conditions, stating, “To secure victories at home, Pakistan must consistently aim for scores above 300.”
Javed also reflected on the evolution of the game, particularly due to the influence of T20 cricket. “The pace of the game has changed significantly. With the rise of T20 cricket, scoring 300 runs in ODIs has become a norm,” he added.
With the Champions Trophy on the horizon, Javed stressed that the Tri-Nation Series will play a key role in Pakistan’s preparations. “This series is a vital step toward the Champions Trophy, and we are fully prepared for the challenges ahead,” he stated.
Discussing team selection, Javed defended the inclusion of all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, explaining his potential value to the squad. “Faheem has been selected as an all-rounder, and if needed, he can contribute with the ball as well,” he noted.
He further elaborated on the squad’s composition, assuring that a well-balanced team has been assembled. “We have carefully formed a squad that includes both pace and spin all-rounders to provide versatility,” Javed remarked.
Responding to criticism over Faheem Ashraf’s selection, Javed acknowledged differing viewpoints but remained confident in the decision. “Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and we respect that. However, we believe in Faheem’s potential and his ability to contribute to the team,” he concluded.
