ICC announce match officials for semi-finals of Champions Trophy 2025
The match officials for the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 have been announced ahead of the high-stakes encounters between India and Australia, and South Africa and New Zealand.
For the first semi-final, which will take place in Dubai between India and Australia, the match officials will include New Zealander Chris Gaffaney and England’s Richard Illingworth as on-field umpires. Michael Gough will serve as the third umpire, while Andy Pycroft will take on the role of the match referee.
Illingworth, who previously officiated in India’s Group A match against New Zealand, returns to Dubai for this clash. Gaffaney was initially scheduled to umpire the match between Australia and South Africa in Group B, but the match was affected by weather conditions, leading to a change in his role.
The second semi-final, which will be held in Lahore between South Africa and New Zealand, will be officiated by Sri Lanka’s Kumar Dharmasena and Australia’s Paul Reiffel as on-field umpires. Joel Wilson will take charge as the third umpire, and Ranjan Madugalle will serve as the match referee.
Dharmasena was previously involved in New Zealand’s win over Bangladesh in Group A, while Reiffel officiated during India’s victory over Pakistan.
