Pakistan’s Dominant Performance Against New Zealand
Pakistan defeated New Zealand in the second match of the tri-series. Pakistan easily achieved the target of 148 runs on the second ball of the 19th over.
In the match played in Christchurch, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first, setting Pakistan a target of 148 runs to win in the allotted 20 overs.
New Zealand’s innings:
Finn Allen and Dion Conway opened the innings for New Zealand. Pakistan’s first breakthrough was given by Muhammad Wasim Jr. in the third over in the form of Finn Allen who only scored 13 runs. New Zealand’s Devon Conway 36, skipper Kane Williamson 31, Glenn Phillips 18, Mark Chapman 32, James Neesham 5, Michael Bracewell 0, ish Sodhi 2 runs out. Apart from this, Tim Southee and Trent Boult remained not out by scoring 1 and 2 runs respectively. Fast bowler Haris Rauf on behalf of Pakistan bowled brilliantly, Haris dismissed 3 players in the 19th over and gave 28 runs in 4 overs. Apart from this, Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Mohammad Nawaz dismissed two players each while Shahnawaz Dhani managed to take one wicket.
Pakistan’s innings:
Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan opened the innings for Pakistan, Rizwan scored only 4 runs off 12 balls. Captain Babar Azam played an unbeaten responsible innings of 79 runs, middle-order batsman Shan Masood was dismissed without scoring a run. At No. 4, all-rounder Shadab Khan, unusually, came in to bat and scored impacful 34 runs. After that Mohammad Nawaz came and scored 16 runs off 19 balls. Batter Haider Ali scored 10 runs off 2 balls.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam was given the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
