PCB announces full-match urdu commentary for PSL 10
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Saturday that the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will, for the first time, offer full-match commentary in Urdu, marking a significant milestone in the league’s history.
In an official press release, the PCB shared its enthusiasm about the initiative:
“For the first time in HBL PSL history, fans will be able to enjoy complete Urdu commentary throughout the tournament,” it stated.
The board emphasized that this step aims to enhance the viewing experience by delivering live match coverage in Pakistan’s national language, allowing fans to feel more connected to the action.
“This initiative will strengthen engagement with millions of cricket fans and provide a more immersive experience,” the statement read. The PCB also mentioned that further details regarding the commentary panels for both English and Urdu broadcasts will be announced soon.
PSL CEO Salman Naseer hailed the decision as a groundbreaking moment for the league, highlighting its potential to broaden the PSL’s reach and emotional connection with local audiences.
“This is a landmark moment for the HBL PSL and its ever-expanding fanbase,” said Naseer. “Cricket unites Pakistan, and by offering complete Urdu commentary, we’re bringing the thrill of the HBL PSL even closer to fans across the nation.”
He added that the separate Urdu commentary feed had long been anticipated, and the league was proud to finally bring it to life.
“This move not only brings us closer to our communities but also makes the PSL more accessible and enjoyable for a wider audience,” he concluded.
The 10th season of the HBL PSL will kick off on April 11, with defending champions Islamabad United facing two-time winners Lahore Qalandars in the opener at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
This year’s tournament will feature six teams competing across 34 matches from April 11 to May 18. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host 13 of those matches, including both Eliminators and the grand final.
