KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi hosted a luncheon for over 700 construction workers of the National Bank Stadium, recognizing their efforts in completing the venue’s upgradation in a record 120 days.

Naqvi personally met and interacted with the workers, expressing gratitude for their dedication in achieving this milestone. To honor their hard work, he formally invited them to witness the upcoming tri-nation ODI series match between Pakistan and South Africa—the first game at the renovated venue.

“It is your right to watch the match. Your hard work has won hearts. Thank you all,” Naqvi praised the workers.

He further acknowledged their role in the successful transformation of the stadium, stating, “We succeeded because of the tireless efforts of the workers. Every worker is a hero who turned our dream into reality.”

Pakistan’s white-ball captain, Mohammad Rizwan, who was also present at the ceremony, echoed Naqvi’s sentiments. He assured the workers that the national team is equally committed to hard work and is determined to win the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.

“You have shown that we are a hardworking nation,” Rizwan remarked. “Like you, we will also give our best and hope to deliver strong performances, especially here in Karachi.”

The ceremony was attended by senior PCB officials, Advisor Amir Mir, Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed, and PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer.

The newly renovated National Bank Stadium will host two matches of the ongoing tri-nation ODI series, featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa, on February 12 and 14. It will also be the stage for three highly anticipated Champions Trophy 2025 matches, including the tournament opener between Pakistan and New Zealand on February 19.
