After losing 6 out of 7 matches so far in Pakistan Super League 2023, can Quetta Gladiators still qualify for PSL playoffs?

Islamabad United defeated Quetta Gladiators by 2 wickets in the 21st match of HBLPSL (Pakistan Super League) yesterday, this was Gladiators’ sixth defeat in the event.

It is believed by the fans that after losing 6 out of 7 matches so far, Quetta’s dream of reaching the play-off stage of PSL 8 has been broken, but it is not so.

Despite defeat in 6 matches, the Quetta team can reach the playoff stage of PSL 8, but how? Let’s find out.

There are 3 ways for Quetta to reach the playoffs.

First method: The first and easiest way is that Quetta will have to win all remaining matches and Peshawar Zalmi who are fourth in the table with 6 points will have to lose their remaining 4 matches.

In this case, Quetta can reach 8 points while Peshawar will remain at 6 points.

Another method: Another and more complicated way for Quetta to qualify for the playoffs is if they win all their matches and Babar Azam-led Peshawar win one of their remaining four matches, in which case Quetta and Peshawar both have 8 points , then playoff qualification will be decided on run rate.

Third method: Quetta can still qualify for the playoffs if Multan Sultans lose their remaining three matches and Quetta wins all three matches with a good run rate.
