
Rizwan Confident of Victory Against New Zealand in Champions Trophy 2025
KARACHI: Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan has vowed to give their all in defending the ICC Champions Trophy title as the much-anticipated tournament kicks off tomorrow, February 19.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, a day before Pakistan’s opening match against New Zealand at National Bank Stadium, Karachi, Rizwan emphasized the team’s commitment to learning from past mistakes and delivering a strong performance.
Reflecting on their recent tri-nation series performance, he acknowledged the lessons gained from their defeat to New Zealand.
“After our loss in the tri-nation series, we had the opportunity to analyze our mistakes and identify areas for improvement,” Rizwan said. “We have been working to ensure that close matches don’t slip away from us.”
The skipper expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress and motivation.
“As a captain, I feel proud when the team performs well and secures victories,” he stated.
Regarding squad fitness, Rizwan confirmed that pacer Haris Rauf is fully fit and has participated in practice sessions. Addressing the team’s batting lineup, he mentioned that Pakistan has multiple opening options but affirmed that Babar Azam, a technically gifted player, would open the innings.
Rizwan also encouraged the nation to enjoy the prestigious ICC event, praising the efforts made in building stadiums in record time.
He highlighted Pakistan’s rich cricketing history, adding that foreign players are eager to learn from the country’s top cricketers.
